(December 14, 2016) Hachette Book Group (HBG) has announced that they have entered into an agreement with Joe Books LTD. Under this agreement, HBG will be selling and distributing all titles published by Joe Books throughout the United States and Canada, beginning July 1, 2017.
Founded in 2014, Joe Books is a Toronto, Canada based publisher of books, graphic novels and comics. It has partnered with media companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Marvel Worldwide, DreamWorks Animation, and Chooseco (Choose Your Own Adventure) to make bestselling books out of the largest media properties in the world, including Moana, Zootopia, Frozen, Inside Out, Trolls, Kung Fu Panda, Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America. One of their most popular products is the Cinestory line, which artfully creates media-tie-in comics using original scripts and high-definition screen captures. Joe Books also publishes collections and treasuries of previously published content, a new monthly comic line launched in 2016 and also original graphic novels based on live-action movies. Hachette will sell and distribute Joe Books’ physical and digital product. Joe Books had distributed physical through Diamond (which will continue to distribute the monthly comics) and ebooks though HarperCollins Canada.
Joe Books President Steve Osgoode said "We are thrilled to be working with Hachette Client Services. Their reputation in sales, marketing and distribution is unmatched in the publishing business. This relationship will only accelerate the amazing growth that we’ve seen since launching our licensed product lines two years ago. I'd also like to thank Diamond Book Distributors for all of their hard work on Joe Books' behalf and we look forward to continuing to build our monthly comic business with them."
Todd McGarity, Vice President of Hachette Client Services, added, “We are very excited to be partnering with Joe Books. Their unique formats and access to premium licensed content is a combination in demand by both consumers and retailers, and we look forward to expanding their distribution.”
