What was the first movie you saw in the theatres? What do you remember about it?
The first movie I remember seeing in the theatre was Star Wars. I was very little, and kind of rambunctious… but I’m told as soon as the Star Destroyer appeared on the screen, I sat silent and open-mouthed in my seat for the rest of the film. It may actually be the last time I was ever quiet.

Do you listen to music as you write?
Not often, because the lyrics will work their way into the script, and you’ll have an entire issue of Launchpad McQuack singing “Lady Marmalade”.
-
What’s your favorite last-dance slow song?
“All By Myself”. The life of a comic creator is a lonely one. :P
-
Are you a collector? What’s your favorite collection?
“Collector” is a very polite way of saying “hoarder”. Fortunately, my obsessions are things that can be stored neatly. I collect 6-inch scale action figures, comics, Funko Pops, and Lego sets. Are you guys hiring for any other projects? I need another job to support my habit.

What is your ultimate road trip destination?
I want to travel across the country and visit all the weird roadside attractions. Every weird lizard farm, every mystery shack, every mud-hut that claims to have Jesse James’ trigger finger on display… if your town boasts something like the world’s biggest ball of yarn, I want to take a picture in front of it.

You’re stranded on a desert island. What three things would you take with you?
A mobile home, solar panels, and a satellite phone. I’m a comics geek. I’m not cut out for “roughing it”.
-
If you had to be a professional athlete, what sport would you play?
Probably the one where teams of men attempt to strike the hurled white spheroid with a cudgel. Whichever one that one is. I don’t know the sportsball.
Wait, is auto racing considered a sport? I’ll do that. It seems exciting, plus you get to sit down.

What is your favorite midnight snack?
Yellow nectarines.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
I’ve always enjoyed the quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted when I am being contradicted.” The internet could learn a lot from that, I think.
The best personal advice I have ever been given was “When you have two options before you, always take the scarier one. Even if you fail, it is the path upon which you will learn and grow the most.”
-
What’s your go-to movie? The one you’ve seen nearly 100 times?
That’s a “Sophie’s Choice” type of question! (My answer is NOT Sophie’s Choice.) I wouldn’t say it’s my “go-to”, necessarily, but any time I’m flipping channels, if “Goodfellas” is on, I’ll stop and watch it. Even though I have it on DVD.
Ask me in a month and I’ll bet my answer will be “Captain America: Civil War.”
-
What’s your dream superpower?
I’ll take Superman’s power set. It’s a nice package deal of flight, strength, heat vision, and invulnerability.
-
If you could spend the day with one fictional character, who would you choose?
I’m gonna have to say Darkwing Duck. Although I already DO kind of spend every day with him. So I’ll mix it up and say Captain America. Despite what Honest Movie Trailers (Hi guys!) say about him not being anyone’s favorite Avenger… he’s mine. Team Cap, baby!

What was your best Halloween costume?
Yellow nectarines.
